Yoga poses are combined with games, stories, music and art!
Classes begin with children sitting comfortably on their mats. We practice deep breathing to relax and gain focus..
Each session has a theme/lesson plan which lends itself to yoga poses. For example, during a beach adventure, children can become crabs darting across the sand or a boat rocking in the water. During a safari adventure, children become elephants swinging our trunks. Talking, singing and laughing are strongly encouraged!
Children who practice Yoga:
- Develop strong, limber and healthy bodies
- Increase focus, concentration and attention span
- Relax and sleep better
- Cope with life stressors more effectively
- Are more creative
- Cultivate self-esteem and patterns for lifelong success
- Learn about anatomy and physiology
- Discover a sense of respect for themselves, for others,
and for the world around them- HAVE FUN!
Children participate in yoga poses designed to be fun. An example of this is barking during downward facing dog. Classes also include a story that comes alive with yoga poses. Imagine Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle acted out. The class concludes with Savasana and time to color.
